GRIFOS LEGEND

Year 1000. Northern Italy finds itself within the Sacred Roman Empire, a land embroiled in battles and bloody raids. Amidst the chaos, only a few places, nestled in the heart of history and art, manage to preserve the seeds of a promising but distant Renaissance future. One such place is the Saint Benedict Abbey.
Year 1979. A millennium has passed since this treasure narrowly escaped destruction. During restoration work on an 18th-century church floor, a remarkable polychrome mosaic is discovered, adorned with numerous tesserae. Meanwhile, in a nearby junior high school, another school year comes to a close. On a sunny May afternoon, unexpected news shatters the tranquility of a Latin class, instantly rousing our curiosity.
Quickly seizing the opportunity, our professor turns this event into a live history lesson. It’s hard to believe that twenty inquisitive teenagers become the first, after centuries, to tread upon those tiny tesserae. The sight is breathtaking—a pair of rampant griffons, their eyes half-open, exude a proud and cunning gaze. “Alius ex alio… one for the other.”
Year 2000. A thousand years have elapsed since the creation of that dreamlike mosaic. Those twenty young individuals are now adults, scattered across the globe by the currents of life. Through this collection of fine writing instruments, I hope to convey the immeasurable significance of history, art, and dreams—a tribute to those teenagers and, especially, to the men who forged the art of writing, preserving it for centuries.
So, “alius ex alio”—one for the other, propelling us forward. Together, we dare to venture further, turning each page of our shared journey.
