Writing with a Fountain Pen When You’re Left-Handed

Writing with a Fountain Pen When You’re Left-Handed – A Joke? Nope!

We’ve heard it a thousand times:
“Oh, I love fountain pens… but I can’t use one — I’m left-handed!”

Well, can we tell you a little secret?
You can write with a fountain pen — even if you’re left-handed. Just like any right-handed person. Really!

Yes, it might be a bit trickier at the beginning. You might smudge a few lines and leave some ink spots as your hand glides over fresh ink. That’s not a problem — it’s a great exercise for fine motor skills, coordination, and even brain development.

Our own son got his first fountain pen at six years old. He’s left-handed and he uses nothing else at school. And he’s doing fantastic.

There’s even plenty of research that proves writing by hand (especially with a fountain pen!) stimulates brain activity, creativity, and dexterity far more than typing ever could.

Still not convinced?
Check out this quick video of Maurizio Stura writing with a fountain pen. Yep — he’s a proud lefty!

So next time someone says,
“Left-handed people can’t use fountain pens,”
just smile and say:
“That’s not true — I know a guy who makes fountain pens, writes with fountain pens… and he’s left-handed!”

Are you left-handed and love writing with fountain pens? We’d love to hear your story!
