Frequently asked questions

What is soapstone?
It is a soft rock, known scientifically as chlorite schist, which was once used to make pots and fine vessels. Its green colour sometimes shows slightly golden streaks, caused by inclusions of quartz or pyrite.
What is it like to write with a stone pen?
Soapstone retains heat for a long time: as you write, you feel the warmth of your hand passing into the stone, which feels both solid and soft to the touch.
How is the Heart of Stone fountain pen made?
We crafted it in collaboration with the sculptor Rino Collé. The soapstone is combined with 925 silver parts and a solid 18-carat gold nib.
