The story of Canvas
The sterling silver body of Canvas is covered with a guilloché design that recalls the elegance of a finely woven canvas. In Italian we call it Tela di Penelope, after Penelope, the wife of Odysseus in Homer's Odyssey, who wove a linen cloth during her husband's absence.
Her weaving has become a symbol of patience, perseverance and waiting. For more than three decades we have decorated our writing instruments in precious metal with guilloché, a classic of the Italian tradition.
A meaningful gift for someone who knows the value of patience, or to celebrate a graduation after years of study.
From our workshop
Every Grifos pen is made by hand in our workshop in Castiglione Torinese.
- Craftsmanship
Hand-crafted in Italy. The body is sterling silver 925, engraved with the guilloché technique; the metal details are silver plated. The hallmarks *TO 675 and 925 guarantee genuine sterling silver.
- Writing
The double-use filling system takes either a converter or ink cartridges; the pumping converter comes already installed. The cap twists open. The stainless steel medium nib is made by Bock; fine, extra fine and broad are available at no additional cost, and the pen can be upgraded with a solid 18 kt gold nib. The pen is also available as a rollerball.
